Now what this means is that your website would act as a virtual server and the resources as CPU, Ram would be pulled from a resource pool as you can see in this diagram. In the case of a virtual private server, the website is hosted on a virtual partition of a server from a physical server. Now this is very similar to something called if you’ve heard of VMware or VirtualBox, now what happens is, for example, on my laptop if I install this software called VMware or VirtualBox. With this software, I can create a virtual partition on my machine and that partition will run independently from my main machine. So here, as you can see from this diagram, a machine is divided into multiple virtual partitions or virtual servers, and then those partitions are assigned to a website. In dedicated hosting, the website is hosted on a single physical server dedicated to your personal use and there is no sharing of resources here. So it is similar to buying a laptop and then the whole laptop is using the website. In case of shared hosting, the website is hosted on the server that shares a common pool of resources like RAM, CPU, disk space, etc. with all other websites. So it’s like, for example, I give my laptop to someone and then on that same particular laptop, thousands of people are hosting their website. Of course, the laptop will be a laptop with a very high configuration. So that’s why shared hosting isn’t that great, but it’s really a performance issue. Also, in cloud hosting it is very profitable because we only pay for what we are using, not before you have to pay in full and then you are using the services. On virtual private server, it is much more affordable than dedicated hosting, although it was still quite expensive and dedicated hosting as we know it would be expensive because you are given full resources and there is no exchange whatsoever. Shared hosting is the cheapest, but I think actually cloud VPS is also quite cheap because we only pay for what we are using, not like shared hosting we will only give a discount if we buy shared hosting for maybe . two years, three years like this. In the cloud hosting, it is as if full access to the root is given and the performance is quite good depending on the configuration that we are going to choose, and it is the same for the virtual private server and the best performance that we will always get in the hosting dedicated. Of course, shared hosting because multiple people are hosting your website on a particular machine, you may have a lack of server control and performance would not be as good if your website receives a lot of traffic. Now some of the typical Cloud VPS examples are DigitalOcean and Vultr, and for a virtual private server, we can use GoDaddy and Bluehost. For dedicated again we have other options such as Vultr, GoDaddy, Bluehost, SiteGround and for shared we also have GoDaddy, Bluehost, SiteGround, etc. These are the main differences between the different types of hosting that are available. In our course, we will use Cloud VPS, which is actually the most profitable and the best performing. © All tutorials are the intellectual property of “CodeIntelligent” and are made with a lot of hard work, love, time and effort.
